Welcome to Upward Bound!
Welcome to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (UL Lafayette) Upward Bound (UB) Program. The Upward Bound Program at UL Lafayette is directed by Mr. Robert Carmouche, UL Lafayette's Department of Special Services Director.
Upward Bound is a precollege preparatory program designed to generate the necessary academic skills and motivation a student needs to be successful in a college program. Upward Bound focuses on students who want to be well prepared for a college program. Upward Bound I and II are college enrichment programs offered by UL Lafayette for high school students, ages 15-19, who share an interest and aptitude for obtaining a college degree.
The Upward Bound students are presently from schools in Lafayette, St. Landry, St. Martin, New Iberia, and Vermilion parishes. The summer session is the most exciting part of the UB Program. Students will live on UL Lafayette campus for a seven-week intensive academic program centering on English, Science, Math, Reading and Physical Education. Students observe and experience many events and write about them in an attempt to broaden their horizons and gain a prospective understanding of life in today society.
Upward Bound provides equal opportunity and access to all participants without regard to color, creed, ethnicity, gender, race or religion.
